htmlstart deadhead . August 26 - Deadhead Under Dock txt We got up at 6:15 to discover a deadhead lodged under the edge of the dock, holding that side 4 feet out of the water. The tide is coming in, so we will see what happens. The most serious problem was caused by the torque on the ramp and on the hinge that connects it to the wharf. The force on the hinge damaged the beams on the wharf where it attaches. That corner of the ramp (wharf end) dropped 4 inches and threatened to come loose. Our temporary fix was to bolt a long fir 4x4 to the wharf and hang the ramp hinge from it with a home-engineered U-bolt. A new sheet of 3/4" plywood reinforces the dock surface the lower end of the ramp rolls on.
