Maia and Julie are cousins from Uganda. They are U.S. citizens. Have been here about twenty years. They are both caregivers, usually tending to people in the last years of life. When Martha and I are in Canada May through October, May and Julia live in our house. They have become good friends.

Julia goes to Uganda yearly to check on a girl’s orphanage she founded and to do other good deeds. She told me about a woman she met who needs more help than she can provide. The woman’s husband died of Aids and the woman is infected. She has three children she cannot afford to send to school. Tuition is $100 per semester, three semesters per year. I am trying raise $900 to see them through one year.
